HOW WE WORK

CLIENT ENGAGEMENT
AND CONSULTATION

We ensure our clients are informed and consulted throughout the entire process and involved and engaged in the decision-making process since its early stages to guarantee that the infrastructure shaped meets end users’ expectations and provides them with a material socio-economic benefit.

OPPORTUNITY
IDENTIFICATION

We seek to leave a positive legacy and support economic activity through the projects that we develop. To do so, we pursue opportunities where we feel we can add value and make a difference to the end user.

We engage with clients, lenders, banks, and local stakeholders to seek their feedback, explore ways in which we can optimise the initial concept and effectively structure a project from inception. As part of our opportunity identification, we carry out high level environmental and social screening of the project to identify key non-technical impacts and risks that need to be considered in the Go/No-Go process as well as in future studies, planning and designs.

ENGINEERING
& DESIGN

QGMI acts as a one-stop shop where clients can be certain they will be offered a complete package that meets their requirements. We listen closely to clients, exploring ways in which we can provide them with the optimal solution that addresses all project dimensions, including sustainability, best technical solution, bankability, and the expectations of end users.

To this purpose, we invest in engineering and design studies from an early stage of project development. Clients are provided with a detailed scope of work, which allows them to get a good sense of  what our vision of their project is as well as to provide their input in an early stage, possibly even before the contract becomes effective.

Having previously carried out our initial screening of environmental and social (E&S) risks during the opportunity identification stage, we propose options and solutions that help to effectively mitigate these impacts and enhance the benefits through design.

PROCUREMENT
AND PARTNERSHIPS

QGMI offers an integrated procurement service that includes contract management, purchasing, inspection, quality control, logistics and materials management for small and large-scale infrastructure and public services.

Clients with complex infrastructure projects and programmes count on QGMI to secure a cost-effective and reliable supply chain and procurement process as part of their delivery.

QGMI treats its suppliers and contractors as partners in developing sustainable projects. We continuously seek to form long-lasting partnerships with well-established and dynamic businesses within the construction and infrastructure sector to add value to our projects.

PROJECT FINANCE STRUCTURE

As part of our comprehensive package of services, we can work with clients to secure a structured financing solution applicable to their needs. We do this by leveraging the relationships we have developed with financial institutions, including local and international commercial banks, export credit agencies and multilaterals.

We believe this is a key differentiator of our service offering, which helps clients to secure the credit facilities they need, and to balance competing demands on their spending.

As part of this, we are also able to coordinate the environmental and social studies and requirements that might be a pre-condition to accessing financing for a project.

CONSTRUCTION

We assign each project to a dedicated and experienced team to ensure that construction is delivered to the required standards. Our teams typically include a project manager; human resources and health, safety, environment; and quality management; planning and production engineers, surveyors, foremen, and maintenance and support staff.

commissioning and KNOW-HOW TRANSFER

QGMI seeks to leave a positive legacy beyond its short-term involvement in a project.

Depending on the technical nature of a project, QGMI’s commissioning service can include the delivery of a bespoke knowledge transfer programme and provision of the necessary operational training …

… to ensure the client’s team can fully take advantage of the benefits and utility of their project, thus being able to correctly operate and carry out maintenance to prolong the life of the asset.

At the client’s request, the knowledge transfer programme can also have a broader application, such as supporting the client to develop a management system to improve overall risk management or supporting them to meet lender environmental and social requirements.

Handover of the Project to the End-User

We seek to provide a smooth handover to the end user, with the provision of all necessary information and records to enable them to operate the asset or service sustainably and independently.

Post Delivery Services

We offer post-delivery services that are tailored to the type of project and its technical complexity. Projects typically have a guarantee period during which any snagging can be addressed.

Integrated Waste Management

At QGMI, we plan to adopt an integrated waste management approach, by assessing the various waste streams and adopting an approach of waste management. Our organic wastes are segregated, and a designed composter treats them. The result of the organic waste management can be applied to our reforestation projects.

Accugrade GPS Control System

We use a GPS technology to increase our productivity in earthmoving and grading processes. This Control System allows operators to grade more precisely and faster, which translates into higher productivity, lower operating costs, and a well-done work.

SAE (Electronic Monitoring System)

The Electronic Monitorig System was developed internally by the IT team, with the aim of monitoring the development of activities and working hours of workers and teams in real time, reducing access time to performance indicators for strategic decision making. The system, which is available in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, works via smartphone by reading QR Codes affixed to equipment and on workers’ credentials. It works even where there is no internet available, as data can be stored in the phone’s memory and transferred when there is a Wi-Fi or 4G network signal. It improves cost management, productivity control and contributes to environmental sustainability.
