Luau-Cazombo-Lumbala Road
ANGOLA
Project justification
The municipalities of Luau, Cazombo and Lumbala, in the province of Moxico, are completely isolated during the rainy season due to the poor state of the current roads. For this reason, their rehabilitation is necessary in order to improve travel conditions in the interior of the country and to promote the growth of the region and the quality of life of the population.
The scope of the works will include:
- Rehabilitation of 247 km of the EC192/EN250/EC254/EC382 road, between the localities of Luau and Cazombo and Cazombo and Lumbala.
- Construction of three bridges on the Luau-Cazombo section and four bridges on the Cazombo-Lumbala section.
- Vertical signalling.
- Drainage systems.
The project will be developed in accordance with the IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards and national regulations. Its implementation will provide this region with better road communications, connecting the cities and allowing better access to essential services. It will also optimise travel time between these municipalities, as well as improve road safety for drivers.
