Project justification
QGMI will carry out the rehabilitation of several road sections in southern Benin. The 17-kilometre stretch between the towns of Azove and Klouékanmè, currently unpaved, will be asphalted, while the roads between Dogbo and Bopa, and Bopa and Allada, will be improved but will remain unpaved. Once the works are completed, the movement of people and goods between these towns will be improved, as will access to basic services in the region.
Scope of Works
The scope of works includes:
- Rehabilitation and asphalting of a 17.2 km road between Azove and Klouékanmè, including a three-kilometre urban section where street lighting and pavements will be installed to improve mobility and safety.
- Rehabilitation of a three-kilometre urban section in Lokossa.
- Improvement of the 34 km road between Dogbo and Bopa.
- Improvement of the 35.3 km road between Bopa and Allada.
Sustainability
The project is being implemented in accordance with IFC regulations, the World Bank’s Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines, and the OECD Common Approaches, following the highest international standards.
