Project justification
QGMI is undertaking the improvement and asphalting of the road connecting the towns of Pénéssoulou, Aledjo and Sèmèrè, located in the Donga Department of Benin, near the border with Togo. The project aims to improve the movement of people and goods, boost the local economy and trade, and reduce the historically high number of accidents on this route.
Scope of Works
This project involves:
- Improvement and asphalting of a two-lane road covering 44 kilometres.
- Construction of a six-kilometre border bypass connecting the towns of Aledjo, Akaradè and Togo.
- Construction of three bridges.
- Drainage works, road signage and lighting installation.
Sustainability
The project is being developed to the highest international standards, in compliance with IFC regulations, the World Bank’s Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines, and the OECD Common Approaches.
